We were asked to design and install a proximity lighting system to their material hoists.
Johnson Matthey is a world leader in sustainable technology solutions, transforming energy and reducing carbon emissions. As part of their commitment to safety improvements, we were asked to design and install a proximity lighting system to their material hoists.
The plant runs 24/7 so we agreed a programme of works to minimised disruption. The plant deals high value raw materials, so our employees were required to comply with their strict security measures, as well as health and safety protocols.
We installed safety light system, using specialist lighting fixtures, to the material hoists to alert operatives in the area of the hoist movement and inherent risks. We altered and adapted the control circuits within the hoist, so that the lighting only activated when the crane was in use.
Johnson Matthey takes the safety of their workers seriously and are always looking at ways to minimise any risk. By installing this lighting system, the workers now have a clear indication of where lifting activities are taking place.
Following this trial installation, the client has appointed Allen and Son to complete the same installation on other hoists within the site.
This project involved the fit-out of their new headquarters and warehouse which meant working to a tight programme which we achieved.
We provided the electrical services and BMS cabling to enable the operation of new plant as required.
We are a family-run business of electrical contractors and commercial electricians based in Bedford.
Established in 2008, we have rapidy gained a first class reputation for the quality and the scope of our work.
